Break Coupling design prior to 1972 consisted of a 2-piece Brass Coupling that interlocked and held in place with a set screw. During the production year 1972 the break coupling was changed to a 1-piece Steel coupling with clevis and cotter pins. If the Improved hydrant head is completely broken off, obviously by looking at the style attached you can determine what design it is and order accordingly. If the head did not completely break off or if during cycling of the operating nut you find that it is just spinning then the break coupling would be the first part to check on. Visual inspection of the internal break coupling design should be checked prior to ordering these parts. |
