All repairs to the Main Valve Assembly are accomplished without digging up the hydrant. A Mueller Seat Removal Wrench is used to completely unscrew and remove the Stem and Main Valve Assembly at ground line.

	LOWER STEMS H79 and H104 Mueller IMPROVED Series only

When ordering a Lower Stem for a IMPROVED series hydrant, your current style of Lower Stem must be identified. The design was changed in 1972 due to the Break Coupling being redesigned. Break Coupling design prior to 1972 consisted of a 2-piece Brass Coupling that threaded onto the Lower-Upper Stems. During the production year 1972+ the break coupling was changed to a 1-piece Steel coupling with clevis and cotter pins. This design eliminates the Lower and Upper rods from being threaded ends at ground-line location.

	SEAT REMOVAL WRENCH - Long Type


		This tool is used to remove the Main Valve Assembly when repairs are required. Wrench self-centers on upper barrel flange. Sent complete with bronze Stem Extension piece (on top of wrench in dark blue), and (2) operator bars. This heavy-duty long style wrench is lowered all the way down the hydrant barrel and engages with the Bronze Seat Ring (pictured in yellow).

		The wrench was designed for use with All Years of the Mueller "Improved" style fire hydrants. It can be used on the Centurion series as well. The "Seat Ring" is factory installed at 350 Foot Pounds of torque. This long style wrench puts all your effort directly on the seat ring.

	The wrench is designed for use on a specific size of seat ring but can be used on both Improved and Centurion seats. re: A seat wrench ordered to fit a 4 1/4" - 4 1/2" Valve Opening size Improved hydrant will also fit onto a 4 1/2" VO Centurion design.

	Hydrant Head Maintenance WRENCH




		The large end is used to remove and install the Hold Down Nut [in red] from all Mueller Hydrants.


	The middle of the wrench removes the weather cap and operates both rocker and pin lug adapters that are attached to the nozzles.


	The Small end is called a Wrench Nut. The wrench nut ends of the hydrant nozzle CAPS should have the same Shape and Size as the Operating Nut.

NOTE**



	Please specify the Size and Shape of the Wrench Nut when ordering. National Standard size and shape is 1 1/2" Pentagon, measured from point to opposite flat. When ordering, L&C supplies the Standard 1-1/2" Pentagon Size unless otherwise noted. Square, Hexagon, or other types can also be furnished.

	BRASS SLEEVE for bonnet removal

The bonnet removal Brass Sleeve is used to protect the Bonnet O-rings and stem threads from being damaged when removing and/or replacing the Bonnet Assembly back onto the upper barrel. For Centurion and Improved design dry-top hydrants. The sleeve is 14" long and includes a detent inside of sleeve. This detent makes the sleeve a threaded On and Off design.
This holds the Brass Sleeve onto the stem threads while you are removing and reinstalling the bonnet.
