Some parts require the Direction Of Opening to be stated.

OPEN, followed by a directional arrow indicates either a Left or Right to open water flow from hydrant

Bonnet Build Code SR, ASR, or BSR

	Operating Nut Types The SHAPE and SIZE of the Operating Nut must be know for certain parts. The wrench nut ends of the hydrant nozzle CAPS should have the same Shape and Size as the Operating Nut.

Δ When ordering any internal part, it is based on how the hydrant opens and NOT by the way any individual part installs or how it UN-installs from the hydrant.

	Please specify the Size and Shape of the Wrench Nut when ordering. National Standard size and shape is 1 1/2" Pentagon, measured from point to opposite flat. WHEN ORDERING: L&C supplies the Standard 1-1/2" Pentagon Size unless otherwise noted. Square, Hexagon, or other types can also be furnished.

Replacement BONNETS for Centurion series

4 1/2" VO

Hydrants Dated: 1976 or Older. Bonnet casting is no longer available. Upper Barrel casting must be replaced, new style bonnet, and a 5-1/4" Bonnet Gasket. All other parts can be reused. For pricing purposes, use the following listed "Common Bonnet", along with a replacement upper barrel casting.


	Hydrants dated 1977 or later use the "Common Bonnet" (marked BSR) and common bonnet gasket/Oring combo.

The Upper Stems for Mueller Centurion series all include the cross pin for seat removal tool, listed below under tools.

Note On 5-1/4" VO Size: The upper barrel casting changed heights 3-times over the years, thus the 3 lengths of stems available.

	SPECIAL TOOLS Required For CENTURION BONNET Rebuilding


	For Centurion Bonnet repairs, the following special tools are recommended. Their use is illustrated on our Centurion Bonnet Maintenance procedures page. The link is listed below.


	Hydrant Head Maintenance WRENCH




		The large end is used to remove and install the Hold Down Nut [in red] from all Mueller Hydrants.


	The middle of the wrench removes the weather cap and operates both rocker and pin lug adapters that are attached to the nozzles.


	The Small end is called a Wrench Nut. The wrench nut ends of the hydrant nozzle CAPS should have the same Shape and Size as the Operating Nut.

	BRASS SLEEVE for bonnet removal

The bonnet removal Brass Sleeve is used to protect the Bonnet O-rings and stem threads from being damaged when removing and/or replacing the Bonnet Assembly back onto the upper barrel. For Centurion and Improved design dry-top hydrants. The sleeve is 14" long and includes a detent inside of sleeve. This detent makes the sleeve a threaded On and Off design.
This holds the Brass Sleeve onto the stem threads while you are removing and reinstalling the bonnet.
