Brass Nozzles Are Threaded
Into hydrant head casting, sealed with a O-ring, and locked in place.

Threading Direction Changed
Centurion hydrants with a casting build date
of 1975 - 1977 are threaded to the right and are locked in-place by a stainless screw and removed by a screwdriver.

1978 to PRESENT are threaded to LEFT;
and are locked in-place by a stainless serrated wedge-lock which is removed by driving it out with a pointed tool and hammer.

		Δ When ordering any internal part, it is based on how the hydrant opens and NOT by the way any individual part installs or how it UN-installs from the hydrant.

ORDERING NOTES FOR PARTS ORDERING

Some parts require the Direction Of Opening to be stated.

OPEN, followed by a directional arrow indicates either a Left or Right to open water flow from hydrant

Bonnet Build Code SR, ASR, or BSR

	Operating Nut Types The SHAPE and SIZE of the Operating Nut must be know for certain parts. The wrench nut ends of the hydrant nozzle CAPS should have the same Shape and Size as the Operating Nut.

	* NOTE Please specify the Size and Shape of the Operating Sleeve & Nut when ordering. Standard size and shape is 1-1/2" Pentagon, measured from point to opposite flat. This shape and size will be furnished unless otherwise specified when ordering. Square and Hexagon or other sizes of pentagon can also be furnished.

The Upper Stems for Mueller Centurion series all include the cross pin for seat removal tool.

Note On 5-1/4" VO Size: The upper barrel casting changed heights 3-times over the years, thus the 3 lengths of stems available.

	A-24 Upper Barrel Casting ... for All Centurion™ Fire Hydrants

4 1/2" VO

Hydrants Dated: 1977 or Older. Original design Upper Barrel and Bonnet castings are no longer available. Upper Barrel casting must be replaced along with a new style bonnet,. Also the Hose and Pumper Nozzles were threaded differently - so they would also need to be replaced. A new Bonnet O-ring Seal would be required. It is not worth the money and effort in doing this procedure, for these years and Valve Opening. The most economical method would be to replace the entire head assembly. See below for those items.

Hydrants dated 1978 to Current: Order one of the following head castings. Included with each casting is a complete replacement kit which contains all new gaskets, washers, and bolts/nuts required to attach your existing bonnet. Also in our custom kit, a complete break-flange rebuild kit for ground line connection.

5-1/4" VO

Hydrants Dated: 1977 or Older. When replacing the upper barrel, you must also replace the brass threaded-in Hose and/or Pumper nozzles. Also required is a new "Upper Stem" - (28 13/32").

Order the items from the below 1978-1986 listing - Including the "Upper Stem". You will then need to order new brass threaded nozzles from the listing above.


	Hydrants dated 1978 to 1986: When ordering a replacement Upper Barrel casting a new "Upper Stem" with length of 28 13/32" is also required.
